| Movie Review: Enchanted
Enchanted is like a grand, live-wire musical symphony of all the Disney fairy tales we all grew up loving. We know all the ingredients: the beautiful singing princess in the tall tower, the prince in shining armor, the evil stepmother or queen who were probably one and the same to begin with anyway, the comically adorable animal sidekick, and perhaps a little kissing to seal true love. And with its ingenious premise, Disney has found the most ideal place to create its own genre-bending musical comedy — New York City. The movie opens with a brief bit of animation to introduce our heroine, Giselle (Amy Adams) in a musical interlude that walks the tightrope between being the most earnest musical number Disney never made and a hilarious parody exposing the old classics for all the frothy sugar that cynics throw stones at.

Nigeria: The Don At 80
AS I sat in the bosom of the Yoruba Tennis Club last Monday (November 17), my focus as always, was on the person of Alade Odunewu. He looked as strong as a 50-year- old. He was angular, nearly straight as a ramrod. Few people look as good as he did. And I contemplated how and what has been responsible for his youthfulness. It occurred to me he has been contented with life and what it had to offer. He had been pleased with what has pleased God to endow him with. When I read the tribute by Tony Momoh, it crystalised: "I will never honour anybody with my anger," Allah-De was reported to have said. Tony says: "He is never angry, he has never angered." .
Uganda: Mabira Forest - Paradise in the Jungle
From impotent men looking for the liggwalimu plant (Citropropsis Artituculata) which is believed to fire up potency, to birders, campers, conservationists, students and eco-tourists, Mabira Forest seems to offer something for everybody. Locals from Buvunya village, are likely to warn the Youth Forum delegates from the Commonwealth countries who are scheduled to visit the 312sqkm forest today (Sunday), not to tamper with the liggwalimu unless they have a prescription from the village herbalist. They claim that the western viagra is no match for the thorny plant. The plant is one of the many highly-valued medicinal plants in Mabira Forest, the only remaining tropical jungle in central Uganda. Neighbouring communities, in collaboration with the National Forestry Authority (NFA) are trying to conserve it.
Story Without an Ending
Ida Mae Wyne was the most famous woman in Winters End, Ala. It was not her beauty that brought fame, for Ida Mae was a plain woman. Nor her smarts, poor Ida Mae was a little slow. Ida Mae had been struck by lightning 17 times since the day she turned 16. The first time it happened was a sad occasion. Thunderclouds rolled in as Ida Mae leaned in to kiss Tommy Biggs. It was her first kiss and his last. Wow, she said, not realizing that the electricity she felt had come from the sky and not Tommys lips. When she opened her eyes Ida Mae found Tommy lying in the tall grass with a smile on his face. The lightning strikes happened every year or so after that. Ida Mae would be running along outside and a bad cloud would show up, seemingly out of nowhere.
